Blaine Ray presents his TPR Storytelling workshop

at the Fall 2000 MEA-MFT Educators Conference in Billings, MT

Getting physical!

Debbie Kelley introduces Blaine Ray to the 130 teachers present at the Total Physical Response Storytelling workshop.

Blaine needs a student, one who has no prior Spanish learning.

Blaine teaches Natasha Campbell the Spanish word for hair.

Natasca is ready to learn a story.

Blaine uses hand gestures to help students remember the new vocabulary.

Blaine contemplates what he has just heard.

Natasha shows that she is learning the language.

A group of new students is ready to learn some Spanish.

Wapo tells his version of the story he just learned.

The students listen intently as they hear their story.

It's just as much fun to listen as to participate in the learning process.

Wapo gets to act out his story.

Gwynn Mundinger is fully entertained by Wapo's amazing story.

Gwynn and Debbie keep the coffee fresh and the hospitality room tidy as members filter in during breaks.

With so many attendees, the teachers have to find a place to eat in the hallway.

Lynn Marquardt finds an engaging conversation in the MALT/MABE hospitality room.

A wonderful meal satisfies the hungry teachers.

After a successful first day, more language teachers sign up for day two of the workshop.

On day two, Blaine quizzes Natasha to see if she remebers her Spanish lesson.

Natasha shares what she knows with her new classmate.

Jenny Polkowske tries her hand at TPRS.

Blaine checks on her students to see if they're learning.

Learning the words is easier with hand gestures.

Yes, I'd say she's getting the process.
MALT would like to thank
the Billings School District
for shaing in bringing
Blaine Ray and his TPR Storytelling
to the Montana teachers.

The room was set up for only 100 participants so more chairs had to be found to allow most present a place to sit.  Some teachers stand in the back.

On our second day, 85 participants attend the workshop.
